What is the BKPM Boot Camp?
Note: Book an event that is more than 3-4 weeks out!
The BKPM Boot Camp is generally a four-week process that culminates in a six-hour BKPM Boot Camp session. It focuses on learning methods to develop critical decision-making skills and on using well-established frameworks to take and maintain control of any project. The boot camp is conducted in two phases:
Phase 1: Self-Study and Reflection
Leading up the BKPM Boot Camp, there are a number of activities that participants must complete. These are:
- Read Bare Knuckled Project Management; How to Succeed at Every Project – provides familiarity with the BKPM principles; once you book your session date, we’ll contact you to determine the best way to send you the book.
- Complete and submit the BKPM Resting Zone Survey – individual survey results are shared with learners via email and at the boot camp; and
- Complete and submit the BKPM Concept Questions Survey – gauges the learner’s current understanding of BKPM principles so training depth can be adjusted accordingly.
Along the way, you’ll receive regular emails that direct you to complete the surveys at the proper time. Think delivers all needed materials to youand provides regular communications to welcome you to the BKPM Boot Camp and to prompt you through your activities.
Phase 2: BKPM Boot Camp Live!
The instructor-led portion of the BKPM Boot Camp is an intense 6-hour session that is conducted as a group activity after these activities are completed. It is typically attended by 10-12 PMs, 2-3 executive sponsors, and 2 Think BKPM facilitators.
Participants should have basic project management skills. A PMI PMP is not required, but does provide evidence that a strong foundational knowledge of PM practices has been attained. Participants will be asked to relate past PM experiences, collaboratively develop project plan outlines and work to identify risks and mitigation strategies while in the presence of peers. Strong entry-level PMs as well as seasoned professionals have performed well in this format.
