Think was engaged to manage the technological merger of two organizations; a privately held financial software, data and media company headquartered in New York City acquiring a legal‐research firm headquartered in Arlington, Virginia.

The Law Products division of the acquiring company would be closed and all products, services, and staff would be transferred to the acquired company by years end. This date would not slip.

The Solution

Think facilitated a review of technological goals and objectives, derived a prioritized list of projects and completions standards, and developed a management strategy for the technological merger of the two companies. Think took ownership of this portfolio of projects and implemented a virtual Project Management Organization (PMO), using a simple, direct and effective project management methodology and customized project governance structures.

The Results

The merger was completed on time, within budget and with all planned functional scope, Think took control of existing customer staff and augmented their capabilities with a number of highly‐skilled Think staff and contractors. Think staff provided a wide array of hardware/software capability analysis, business process analysis and reengineering, project planning, task prioritization, budget and cost monitoring/analysis, resource and activity scheduling, and resources(staff and contractor) management planning, for all of the projects that were in the merger IT integration plan.
